What is Accident Forgiveness?
Accident forgiveness is the part of a car insurance policy protecting a driver from the car insurance rating system for an at-fault accident. Most car insurance companies offer it two different ways. The first is as an upgrade or add-on to your policy, where you pay up front for this protection. The other is earned; this is where the driver goes a certain length of time on the policy without having an accident. Verti also offers customers with a prior accident save an average of $537 per year with FreePass® compared to what they could be paying for car insurance.
What is FreePass?
Verti’s FreePass won’t set a higher auto insurance rate for new customers with one at-fault accident with their previous insurer. If you haven’t had an at-fault accident before, you get accident forgiveness for free!* You can also earn a more robust version after you’ve been a customer with Verti for a while. FreePass essentially comes in three different flavors: Current, Future and Earned. Here’s a look at what’s baked into each version of FreePass:
* Subject to eligibility guidelines
With the Current Coverage under the FreePass program, if you have one at-fault accident in the past three years we’ll price your car insurance policy as if that accident never happened. As long as you stay at-fault accident free and stick with Verti for your car insurance, your car insurance will not increase as a result of that original at-fault accident that occurred before you had Verti for your car insurance.
If you haven’t had an at-fault accident in the past three years…first of all congratulations! You should be rewarded for your good driving behavior. For drivers with no at-fault accidents in the past three years you get FreePass Future Coverage for free with your policy. You also can take advantage of our Clean in Three Year Discount or Clean in Five Year Discount if you qualify. If you do happen to have an at-fault accident, Future FreePass will make sure that as long as you remain with Verti, we won’t increase your car insurance policy rates as a result of that one at-fault accident at the start of the policy. If a second at-fault accident occurs, both accidents are chargeable.
Once you’ve been a customer of Verti for 36 months or three years, the perks really begin with Earned Coverage under the FreePass Program. This means that if you have an at-fault accident while covered by your Verti car insurance policy, not only are you not charged for the accident, but you also get to retain any Clean for Three Year or Clean for Five Year Discounts you may have qualified for.
