Spooky October Trips in PA

If there’s one holiday that the Verti team really loves, it’s Halloween! So we decided to wrack our brains and come up with some haunted hotspots for you to check out during this Halloween season.
  1. Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride  - Philadelphia
Love a good scare? Then take a trip to the Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride. Amazing pyrotechnics, professional performers and spooky animatronics all come together to create one of “America’s Scariest Haunts” according to the Travel Channel.
  2. Muttster Mash  – Pittsburgh
Do you love puppies? What about Puppies in costumes? If you answered yes to any of these, then make sure you join us at the Animal Friends’ Muttster Mash, the annual one-mile dog walk and 5k race. Make sure to stick around after the run and walk for the pet parade, food trucks, and all around good time.
  3. Pennhurst Asylum – Philadelphia
Legend has it that this historic asylum is truly haunted, which makes this haunted house that much more horrifying. Need a little more adrenaline? Then participate in the 6.66K Run to see what kinds of Ghouls and Goblins you may encounter.
  4. ScareHouse  – Pittsburgh
No haunted house list is complete without mentioning ScareHouse, dubbed one of “America’s scariest Halloween Attractions” by the Travel Channel. Your General admission ticket grants you entry into the Pittsburgh Zombies: Re-Animated, Infernal Darkness, and Nocturnia 3-D experiences. Still not scared enough? Then check out “The basement” an interactive haunted house experience that includes water, Impact scares and total darkness to just name a few of the frights (18+ only).
  5. Philadelphia Ghost Tours - Philadelphia
Unable to make any of the events on our list? Never fear, as Philadelphia has ghost tours all year! That’s right, in Philly you can get goosebumps by learning about the local lore and historic haunted sites.
Are you going to make it to any of these events? Think we missed a spooky stop? Leave us a Facebook comment and let us know!
